WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR personal training PILATES SESSION
Every 1-1 private session starts with a full postural scan and a chat to see what's going on in the body today. Once I have established the areas I will be working on we then begin to release, mobilize, stretch and strengthen the body. Most clients feel great after just 1 session, however this is just the start of a new journey for your body and mind to begin rebuilding correct movement patterns. All of the equipment and Pilates machines are used to help us achieve alignment, support and create resistance when needed.
PILATES MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT and what they do
The leg Springs help support the hip by reeducating the correct tracking of our inner thighs , hamstrings, glutes and hip flexors. They also teach the body how to move from your centre without straining the lower back or ligaments that support the pelvis area.
The arm springs help us achieve perfect balance in the shoulder girdle by using them as resistance in various directions. Sometimes clients may have to work the muscles that pull the shoulders back or maybe their scapula needs anchoring into the ribcage so that the pain can be removed from the neck area (trapezius ).
The Wunda Chair also has springs, but this piece of equipment is different to the springs above by offering clients the possibility to strengthen up knees and legs in a very functional way. Here I use the chair if someone has a tight back as its great for challenging the deep exhale with the deep abdominals which opens the back muscles up into a stretch .
The Pilates Reformer is so versatile offering so many exercises. Starting with footwork on here is great. This highlights the weakness in our foot strike right the way up into the shoulder and neck. From here we generally move into some abdominal work, stretches , rotation work through the spine and some back extension work.
